Delegates at the UN environmental summit in Nairobi have been told that, although Africa is only responsible for four percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, more 60 percent of the African population is affected by global climate change.
Along with discussing a treaty to ban plastic waste from entering the sea, the UN wanted to remind wealthy countries of a promise to raise $100bn for five years to help poorer countries cope with a warming planet.
In the end, the delegates made several resolutions, but follow-through will depend on the political will of individual governments.
